| Escrito al dorso: "THE CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY AIR SQUADRON. A University Air Squadron was founded at Cambridge in 1925, and before the war many undergraduates became members of it and learnt to fly. Of these ex - members many have won distinctions during this war, notably Flying Officer Kenneth Campbell, who was posthumosly awardes the Victoria Cross for a daring attack on a German battle cruiser in Brest harbour.
The air squadron still thrives, although its function has changed. Most of the members are young men who have been selected by the Air Ministry as potencial airdrew officers, and who are sent to the University for a six months course at Air Ministry expense.
This picture shows Air Squadron cadets leaving the dining hall, Trinity College, Cambridge.
