| Escrito al dorso: "BRITONS WHO WILL BUILD THE PEACE. Thousands of British children to this day have still not heard an aire raid siren, or even the distant rumble of an anti-aircraft gun. They are the fortunate ones who alredy lived in or moved to the quiet seclusion of the remote country districts. Obviously not every child could be given such complete protection from disturbances of war. Many have found themsleves in their classroom in the midst of lessons when the bombs have started to fall. All possible precautions were taken from the outset for their safety.
This picture shows children at the Salford School Camp at Barroe, near Whalley, Lancashire, who have long since settled from one of the big north of England industrial towns.
