Escrito al dorso: "A FLOURSHING PROVINCIAL REPERTORY. Repertory Companies have, for many years held an honourable place in the British theatre. Many of Britain´s most famous actors and actresses have begun their stage career in one or other of the well - known Repertory Companies, of which those at Croydon, Birmingham and Manchester are the most famous. One of the most flourishing provincial Repertories today is that atAmersham in Buckinghamshire. Members of the Company have to work hard, for every Monday they put on a new play. When they are not acting, they are rehearsing for the next week; and they also make their own scenery and dresses. The Company is here shown rehearsing —but the rehearsal is not an ordinary one, it is a scene from one of their recent plays. THIS PHOTOGRAPH HAS BEEN PASSED BY THE CENSOR."
