| Escrito al dorso: "BRITONS WHO WILL BUILD THE PEACE.
Thousands of British children to this day have still not heard an air raid siren, or even the distant rumble of an anti-aircraft gun. They are the fortunate ones who already lived in or were moved to the quiet seclusion of the remote country disctricts. Obviosuly not every child could be given such complete protection from the disturbances of war.
Many have found themselves in their classrooms in the midst of lessons when the bombs have started to fall. All possible precautions were taken from the outset for their safety.
This picture shows some of the lucky children who have learnt to enjoy shcool life in the new camps that were established in the remote country districts. These boys are having a tug-o war during a break from lessons.
