Escrito al dorso: "A WELSH EISTEDDFOD. Northern Wales stands upon England´s western border like a great bastion, and offers access from England only by two routes. It is therefore not surprising that it is a remote country of strong and individual character with the wild grandeur of its mountains, lake and castles, which make it a favourite haunt of holiday - makers from many parts of the British Isles. The Welsh are an ancient nation and the have kept alive their history and legends in song and story, for they are a nation of singers and story - tellers. They have also retained their own language. This photograph was taken during a Welsh festival, an Eisteddfof, when the performers, who may sing or recite either singly or in choirs, wear the robes of the Druids, an ancient religious sect. PASSED BY THE CENSOR AND ISSUED BY THE BRITISH COUNCIL PRESS DEPARTMENT."
