For in an emergency the University has its own fire squad. In the background is Emmanuel College where the drill is taking place. War has brought many changes to Britain´s two oldest universities. Many of the older scholars have disappeared to join the fighting forces. Many strangers have arrived. The students of a number of London colleges and hospitals, schools and other similar institutions have evacuated to Oxford or Cambridge.
