Standing high above the City of London is the Cathedral of St. Paul´s, masterpiece of the famous archictect, Sir Christofer Wren. At midnight on December 31st. each year, a concourse gathers in the forecourt to hear ´Big Tom´, the bell of Cathedral clock, strike twelve, chiming out the old year and welcoming the new. The song of the bell, floating over the narrow and bomb-stricken streets of the old City, awakens memories. Not only are the steps of St. Paul´s the scene of the New Year´s Eve gathering.
