| Escrito al dorso: " BRIGHTENING THE SHELTERS. Destined for exhibition in large public air raid shelters, a large collection of paintings by young contemporary British artist is now on exhibition at a London art gallery. The authorities have been making every effort to brighten up the shelters for the coming winter and this is one of the most original ideas to that end. The photograph shows members of the selection committee of shelter wardens choosing works for the decortation of their repective shelters. Well - known artist and unknow painters have sent works to the exhibition the primary rule of which is that no picture shall hace the war, in any of its aspects, for its theme.
