This picture shows a family picnic party in the famous Epping Forest, which is only 15 miles from London. This hurriedly snatched outing is a wartime for the peactime English holiday. Epping forest, a lovely stretch of woodland, extends for more than 10 miles; its many historical associations add interest to the trip.
