Escrito al dorso: "THE ENGLISH HOLIDAY. In normal times the English holiday is an important part of English family life. Every year in peacetime, during the children´s summer holiday from school, the entire family spend two or more weeks at the seaside, enjoying the simple pleasures provided at the English seaside resorts. Although cheap and speedy travel will take many people abroad for holidays after the war, the British family seaside holiday will remain a part of the national life. In wartime when it has not been possible for families to take holidays together or to go to the seaside, or to spare the time from the office or factory bench, relaxation has been found in other ways. This picture shows a family picnic party in the famous Epping Forest, which is only 15 miles from London. This hurriedly snatched outing is a wartime for the peactime English holiday. Epping forest, a lovely stretch of woodland, extends for more than 10 miles; its many historical associations add interest to the trip. PASSED BY THE CENSOR AND ISSUED BY THE BRITISH COUNCIL PRESS DEPARTMENT."
